Silence your Cell Phones at the White House

Interesting video today of the White House Press Secretary confiscating a cell phone during a press briefing. I like how informal and fun that crowd is about the phone situation.

I think I like how he throws the phone down the hall even better! Click to view. Embedded video causes my blog to go kaplooey!

I am still amazed at how during meetings and in public forums, people leave their cell phones on. It is such an annoyance to hear personal ringers going off when there is a guest speaker or a public meeting taking place.

Even with announcements from the podium, people leave their cell phones on. I recently saw someone answer the call while trying to leave a room. I watched the reactions of people giving the “scornful eye” as the person left the room. Why aren’t people turning those things off or on vibrate? Haven’t we learned proper phone etiquette yet?

Questions are a-Fluther!

I love to post questions and answers on Fluther.com. This is a great site. You get points based on your questions and how many people respond. You also get points if people rate your questions or answers. What do you do with the points? Um….I dunno.

But I like to post questions there where I can get an answer. This blog doesn’t get much response. I learned this and have finally gotten over that fact. Fluther on the other hand, I get a lot of response. I tend to ask those questions that randomly stick in my head until I can figure it out or at least form a good opinion for what I think is the answer.

I posted a question to the Fluther community the other day: “In your lifetime, what has been your most positive learning experience?” I based this from the speech by Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach at TechForum in what she asked students to answer. I thought maybe this was a good question to ask this community in Fluther.

I would post the answers below…but why??

They are posted on Fluther. Feel free to check them out. Post a response. Post a question.

Fluther. It is fun!

Funny video interlude

So my blogs have been really serious for the past few days. Time to break it up with some fun.

One of my new top sites to visit daily is http://www.todaysbigthing.com. It is the site that posts a video as it begins the spiral to viral. Each day they post videos in categories from Entertainment, Sports, Technology, to Today’s Big Thing.

This video is taking the events of Aha’s mega video hit of the 80s and translating those events into the song. Make sense? Watch and see. Very funny!
